The new year brings a lot of anticipated events. Some of those anticipated events that are coming up are the movies coming out in 2020. There are many action movies, musicals, comedies and more. Here are some movies coming out this year. 

Coming out on January 17th, 2020, the anticipated movie Dolittle starring Robert Downy Jr. Dolittle is based on a fictional Children’s book and a loose remake of the 1998’s Dr Dolittle starring Eddie Murphy. It’s about a Veterinarian named Doctor John Dolittle who can communicate with the animals he helps. This movie will also include many famous actors including, Emma Thompson, Salina Gomez, Rami Malek, Tom Holland and more.  

On March 20th, 2020, the anticipated sequel to one of 2018’s most known thrillers, The Quiet Place, directed by John Krasinski, comes out. In this movie, we get to see how the monsters came to Earth and what the family does after they find the monster’s weaknesses.  We’ll be getting a lot of long-awaited for answers. 

Disney has some exciting projects in the works, such as the live action Mulan and Black Widow movie. Disney, continuing with their live action streak, will be releasing the movie Mulan on March 27th of this year. We will also be getting the backstory of Black Widow from the Marvel Universe and get to see how Natasha Romanoff became the awesome superhero she is. 

“I’m so excited for the live action Mulan movie, because it’s one of my favorite Disney movies and I’m excited to see them come to life!” Farmington High student, Anna Caldwell, said. 

Another movie coming out this year that everyone is very excited about is Wonder Woman 1984. This movie is about Wonder Women in the Cold War and the events that play out during that time. Gal Gadot will be joined by Kristen Wiig for this movie. Not only will Kristen Wiig be appearing in this next movie, but so will Chris Pine, who was in the first movie as well. 

“I think I’m most excited about the new Wonder Woman movie,” a junior at our school, Lauren Mackay, said.

 “I loved the first one so much, and Gal Gadot does such a great job with this role,” Lauren said. 

This is just a small list of movies that are coming this year. There are many more such as Soul, In the Heights, Free Guy, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and many more. This year is sure to be a very exciting one for movie lovers!
