Prom Pandemonium

Prom is in less than two weeks, and you know what that means, time to start planning! I don’t know who made the most important dance of the year boys ask, but it’s just a bad idea in general. It’s quite well known how irresponsible high school boys are, but give them the responsibility of planning both a day date and the night of the dance, and it’s all over. But on a more serious note, prom is probably the most looked forward dance there is, as it is the most formal and most expensive. From limos to helicopters, I am sure this year’s Prom will not disappoint.

“Prom is way too expensive,”  senior, Jackson Lindsay, said.

From my experience, the prom adventure consists of first, a day date on a separate day before the dance. These can range in types of date ideas from bowling, axe throwing, escape rooms, golfing, or even a scavenger hunt. Then dinner is next, depending on when you start the date, and you go to a restaurant that is a little more casual and less expensive. Places like In-N-Out, Chick-fil-A, and Costa Vida are common venues for day dates. The last part of the date is usually left up to what the group wants to do for the rest of the night, this can be things like a movie, group games, or night games if it’s warm enough, but it usually happens at someone’s house and there are treats or desert to eat while you’re there.

“Prom is really fun, but it sucks to plan because everyone has different ideas,” an anonymous student said.

Now onto the day of the dance. Almost every group you will be in will start with pictures at a scenic place somewhere in the area. These places can be parks, pretty houses, places with cool views, or sunset pictures up on the mountain. After pictures, the next item on the agenda would be the fancy dinner. This meal is going to be one of the bigger expenditures of the dance and it may hurt your pockets. At last, you get to go to the “dance,” which actually just consists of moshing, getting shut down, moshing, getting shut down etc. etc. Then to conclude, most groups will spend the last 2 hours hanging out at someone’s house playing games.

I hope this rundown gives you a good idea of what Prom is like, don’t be scared though it’s a blast!
