The New year is going to be over soon and for those reading this article in 2020 the new year has already passed. Will there be anything to look forward to in the upcoming year to get people excited even if it is just little things? 2020 will be the year of the metal rat and that can only mean this will be a prosperous year for all Chinese zodiac signs. For those who wish to begin a huge project or make financial advancements this is the year; however, one will only be successful if they plan their actions carefully. 

“New opportunities for finding true love and earning more money. 2020 is going to be successful!” Chinese Horoscope 2020 – Year of the Metal Rat, The Chinese Zodiac.org, said.  

Maybe it’s a good time to reflect on 2019 before it’s 2020 as well. For those who listened to Spotify in 2019, you might want to check out your 2019 Spotify playlist, it may bring back some memories of the year or you might just think “when did I ever listen to this song?” 

How many people feel like they’ve grown during the year and how many people feel like they’ve regressed, maybe most people feel like they haven’t changed at all this year. People always plan to be better than they were last year but then they either forget their resolution, or they don’t care until the time to be disappointed in their lack of accomplishments when the year comes to an end. What is the significance of dropping the ball at Times Square, is it supposed to represent how everyone dropped the ball on their new year’s resolutions?

“Before the first month of the year has even come to an end, most people have given up on their annual commitment to themselves.” Shireen Khalil, from the New York Post said. 

About only 5% of people succeed in accomplishing their new year’s resolution while most other people give up within the first month.

Why not start a different new year tradition, perhaps a new year’s retribution. On New Year’s Eve, make the time to do something that you have always wanted to do and just do it. (My new year’s retribution is to get all Apocalypse Zero S.H Figurarts because that is something I can do… hopefully). 

Now some may be thinking, “That’s really not any different than a new Year’s resolution, and to be honest whoever is thinking that is kind of right, but new year’s retribution sounds way cooler than resolution, and besides it’s more about doing something fun for yourself as opposed to making yourself a better person.
