Seniors are Feeling the Stress of Graduation
March 9, 2022
Seniors at Farmington high school are with the thought of graduation approaching. This is a day many look forward to, they are excited to begin their adventure in the real world. While others are engulfed with the realization that they have to figure out what they want to do with their life.
“After I graduate, I have to get a life,” senior, Savannah Winterton, said.
This consuming stress of life starting has put many into a panic. Many students have no idea what they are going to do after high school, while others have their whole life planned out. Students that don’t know what they want to do in their future have anxiety thinking of the future. This could affect their thoughts and feelings on graduation.
For many, this school year has flown by. This has caused people to stress about schoolwork and extracurricular activities. They may wonder, “will I graduate?” Students are feeling the pressure as the 2022 school year’s end is approaching. Seniors are scrambling to finish in time for graduation.
“Graduation is like the last lap in Mario Kart where the music gets really fast and it’s all stressful,” senior, Lucy Seamons, said.
Graduation may look different this year. It will be one of the first normal graduations at Farmington High School. Covid has caused graduations to look different in the past years. This may include a drive-by, Zoom, and even small graduations. This has made graduation less of a celebration for students. Likewise, this year will be different. Seniors get to celebrate their accomplishments with friends and family.
Seniors may feel unprepared for the future and stressed from schoolwork. Furthermore, this is the first step for many to begin their life. Graduation should be a celebration many look forward to, but the stress might be overwhelming.
