NBA All Star Weekend Celebrity Game!

Jed Judkins, Sports

Every year the NBA holds an All-star weekend in a city of their choice. This year, all-star weekend is coming to Salt Lake City Utah! All star weekend starts on February 15, and goes till February 17. This event holds many different games, concerts, and activities to do all weekend. The weekend focuses on one main event, the NBA all-star game. Along with the main event, they play a celebrity game.

The NBA all-star celebrity game has been a tradition in the NBA since 2003! Celebrities are chosen by fans, players, and media to play in the game. This year is featuring some of the most famous people ever; athletes, artists, and actors. The teams were just released, some of the most well-known celebrities playing this year include, 21 Savage, Calvin Johnson, Kane Brown, and Albert Pujols.

Rules and regulations for the celebrity game are a little bit different compared to a regular NBA game. The celebrity game will have three quarters each of which will start with a score 0-0 and a game clock of 12 minutes. So you try to win each quarter separately. Then when the fourth quarter comes around, the game clock will be gone and a final score is set. Each team races to get to this final score in the fourth quarter, and the first team that gets it, wins!

Obviously there are two teams that compete in the celebrity game. Each team has their own coach. Since the game is being played in Salt Lake City this year, the Jazz owner Ryan Smith and part-owner Dwayne Wade will coach the other team.

The Celebrity game is a very popular and sought after game, and has brought in up to 100,000 people! We are super lucky because the game is coming to Utah this year in our very own, Salt Lake City!
