Is Charlie Woods the Future of Golf?

Cooper Hyde, Sports Reporter

Charlie Woods is a rising star in the world of golf. At just 12 years old he has made a name for himself in the sport. Charlie has been gaining a lot of attention for his impressive skills on the course and being golf’s most promising young player.

Born in 2009, Charlie is the son of professional golfer Tiger Woods. Growing up with a father who is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time, Charlie was exposed to golf at an early age and began playing just at the age of four. Since then Charlie’s skills have improved significantly and has won several junior tournaments. In 2020 he and Tiger played in the duo PNC tournament. Tiger and Charlie placed 7th.

Despite Charlie’s young age he has impressed many with his talents and poise on the course. He has a great swing and good feel for the game and has shown great maturity for his age on the course. While Charlie’s skills are impressive, what sets him apart is his family’s legacy. Tiger Woods is the most successful and influential golfer in history, and his impact on the sport cannot be overstated. As Charlie gets older and his skills begin to develop and compete at higher levels, he will constantly be compared to his father. This pressure would be difficult for any young athlete, but Charlie seems to be taking it all in. He has spoken openly about his desire to follow his fathers footsteps.

“ I think that Charlie has great potential and can become a professional golfer like his dad and I think he will be a superstar.” says Ethan Rivera senior at Farmington Highschool

As Charlie continues to improve and develop his skills it will be interesting to follow his journey. Whether he follows in his fathers footsteps or decides to forge his own path in the sport, one thing is clear: Charlie is a talent to watch in the golf world.
