In 1999, arguably the best movie made its debut, shortly becoming a beloved classic. 10 Things I Hate About You is a rom-com about teenage love loosely based on The Taming of the Shew written by Shakespeare.

10 Things I Hate About You focuses on two sisters, Bianca and Kat. Bianca can’t date until her older sister does, but Kat is too busy being annoyed by the miscreants that go to their school and doing her own thing to focus on boys. Because of this, two boys who have a crush on Bianca convince the bad boy, Patrick, to date Kat so they can go out with Bianca. 

“Before I watched it I thought it was going to be some cheesy romance movie that I would hate. But it was actually so good. It definitely does have some cheesy romance parts but a majority of the movie was so good. It was so funny, I would definitely watch it again.” Senior, Cooper Noorda, said.

The movie’s lovable cast features Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gorden-Levitt, and Larisa Oleynik. The casting department knocked this movie out of the park, by casting actors that fit each role perfectly. 

There is not much you can’t love about this movie, with an incredible cast, hilarious script, great music, and amazing plot. 

“My mom is the one who introduced me to this movie, and I am so glad she did. It is now one of my favorite all-time movies. Its humor and romance makes it my go-to comfort movie. Plus it has Heath Ledger!” sophomore, Emily Gibbs, said. 

10 Things I Hate About You has crept into the hearts of many viewers. It has a 4.7/5 star audience rating. And Since its release in 1999, it has made over 60.4 million dollars from the box office worldwide.

Although it was released nearly 20 years ago, the movie has become a favorite for many viewers of various ages.
