Tony Finau is a professional golfer from the United States who has made a name for himself on the PGA Tour.
Born on September 14, 1989, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Finau was raised in a family that loved sports. His father, Kelepi, was a talented rugby player and introduced Tony to the game at a young age. However, Tony soon found his true calling in golf and started playing the sport at the age of six.
Finau turned professional in 2007 at the age of 17 and played on various mini-tours before earning his PGA Tour card in 2016. Since then, he has been one of the most consistent performers on the tour, regularly finishing in the top 20 of tournaments. Finau’s biggest moment on the PGA Tour came in 2018 when he won the Puerto Rico Open, his first and only PGA Tour victory to date.
“Finau’s game is characterized by his incredible length off the tee, his accuracy with his irons, and his excellent putting,” said Golf Digest. He has a smooth swing that generates a lot of power, and he is known for his ability to hit towering iron shots that stop quickly on the greens. Finau’s putting has also improved significantly in recent years, and he is now one of the better putters on tour.
Off the course, Finau is known for his humble and gracious demeanor. He is one of the most popular players among his peers and is always quick to credit his team and family for his success. Finau is also a devout Mormon and has been married to his wife, Alayna, since 2009. The couple has four children. “One of the things I learned growing up, a rule that I go by, is just never give up.” said Finau.
Finau’s success on the golf course has earned him a significant following among fans, and he is considered one of the brightest stars on the PGA Tour. While he has yet to win a major championship, Finau has come close several times, finishing in the top 10 of multiple major tournaments. With his talent and work ethic, it seems only a matter of time before Finau breaks through and wins a major championship, cementing his place as one of the greats of the game.
