With spring on the horizon there is green everywhere you look. But the upcoming spring season isn’t the only reason for all the green! St. Patrick’s Day was just this last weekend on Sunday. Farmington students were asked how they celebrated the holiday.
“My family just had a big family gathering and every single person made sure they wore green. My grandma made a green cake with gold sprinkles,” Junior, Hazel Borland said.
Gathering with family and friends is a way that several people choose to celebrate any holiday. Gathering to have a good time on St. Patrick’s Day is no exception to the other holidays.
“We have a lot of younger kids in my family and so my mom did a Leprechaun hunt. It was really cute. She set up fake footprints and sprinkled glitter everywhere and all the kids got gold coins,” Senior, Brynn Ryan said.
Having a leprechaun hunt is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day especially if there are young children excited for the adventure! Simply scatter some gold coins in a path that leads to a pot of gold! Extra points if you can make little footprints to depict leprechaun tracks!
Although some Farmington students definitely celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, there are other students that did not. There are some that don’t really observe the holiday or have any family traditions associated with it. To some, St. Patrick’s Day is like any other day in the year.
“I know you’re supposed to wear green and sometimes I do but if I don’t no one in my family pinches me or anything. We don’t really do anything special for it (St. Patrick’s Day). In Elementary School it was a bigger deal, and those days were the only time I really celebrated,” sophomore, Ellie Schow said.
If you choose to celebrate and however you choose to, hopefully St. Patrick’s Day was a wonderful holiday for FHS students!
