Almut and Tobias are brought together by a car accident that altered both of their lives. As they go through life challenged by their time limits, they learn to embrace every moment of their time together. This film follows the relationship over the course of a decade, going back and forth in time.
The main cast includes Andrew Garfield (Tobais), and Florence Pugh (Almut). This movie was directed by John Crowly and was written by Nick Payne. John Crowley chose these two actors because of their unmatched chemistry.
This movie follows a beautiful and heart wrenching story that keeps you engaged throughout the whole film. The devastating news of Almut’s (Florence) cancer, and the two of them raising their daughter, has the audience’s eyes not being able to leave the screen.
Andrew Garfield’s (Tobias) portrays this character perfectly. He plays this character just like a real person, watching this movie you forget that he’s the iconic spiderman, and you feel like you are watching a real person going through these things. You see a man that is deeply in love with this girl and wants to cherish every moment he has with her.
Florence Pugh’s (Almut) Portrayal of this character was absolutely life changing. Pugh’s character goes through many things in her life. From being a professional ice skater, to being a restaurant owner and a competitive chef, and then to being diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She struggles with knowing what she wants and making the most of the time she has while doing the things she loves and having a family. The emotion and the realness of her character reminds the audience to make the most of their life with the time they have, and she does an amazing job portraying that.
The end of this movie does a beautiful job at resembling life and death, that left me sobbing in my seat. The writing and directing was heart wrenching.
I left the movie theater in tears; while watching this film I felt every emotion. This movie does an amazing job showing the beauty and the difficulties in life by making you laugh, making you nervous, and making you cry. This is one of the few movies I have zero critiques on. Even with it going back and forth in time there was zero confusion on what was happening.
