On September 20, 2024, the movie “Transformers One” came out and did not become as popular as other live adaptations. Transformers was very famous long ago as it was part of many childhoods, mainly Gen Z and/or millennials. “Transformers One” is a live action adaptation of the original Hasbro’s Transformers TV show. It is an action/sci-fi based movie with a plot like the original cartoon and other live action movies.
Before I start giving a review, I’ll briefly explain its story. This may contain spoilers of the original cartoon if you are not familiar with it. We start off on the planet called Cybertron, this planet is where all transformers live, everyone on this planet needs to get energy to live (think of it as food and water) this energy is called energon and is found underground by miners. Orion Pax, the main character is a miner, miners do not have cogs (what you need to transform into vehicles), and we follow him on his journey as he tries to prove his worth and show other transformers that miners can be just as important, even if they can’t transform.
First, I’ll introduce the cast which some of you may know very well, especially if you are a Marvel fan. The cast includes Christ Hemsworth (Orion Pax), Scarlett Johansson (Elita-1), Laurence Fishburne (Alpha Trion), Brian Tyree Henry (D-16), Josh Cooley (Skywarp), and Jon Harnm (Sentinel Prime). Of course, there are many more in the cast but for now I’ll only introduce these people. This movie is very entertaining as it includes lots of action with a great balance of comedy. This movie answers lots of questions as you watch it but keeps a few unanswered to retain your attention. As the plot develops, the character development is done very well to match up with the pace of the story. “Transformers One” touches on a different topic than most kids’ movies, as the movie teaches a very important lesson of how revenge and greed can consume you. This movie does have a few sensitive languages included so I may not put it completely in the family friendly category.
This movie overall is amazing, as a person who watched Transformers when I was younger, I must admit this movie did it justice, and I personally would place it high as it matched my expectations. Many people, including me and my family, were very disappointed with all the previous Transformers movies, but this one was very well done.
