If you have social media or have any friends with social media, you’ve most likely heard about one of the newest micro trends, hear me out cakes. Although it can’t be confirmed when the first video featuring this new trend was posted, it’s assumed that it was around early September of this year.
The cakes are usually decorated with images of some of the individual’s most embarrassing crushes featuring celebrities, cartoon characters, characters in movies, etc. The pictures are stuck on skewers and are put in the cake, usually after the individual says, “Hear me out…”
Even though it’s definitely a little unusual, a lot of people have made them, including students at Farmington High School. Many agree that it is a fun activity, especially when done with friends.
Junior Mason Adair said, “I have made a hear me out cake because my friends wanted to make one. It was very fun because it was so chaotic.”
The cakes feature a large variety of characters, some are more universally accepted while others are found questionable.
Elizabeth Buckway, a junior, said, “I think my weirdest hear me out was the animals because it’s like, why do people like animals in that way.”
Although individuals may not all agree on everyone put on the cake, the diverse set of characters is part of what makes this trend so fun!
“I did like the characters because they’re all pretty cool in different ways. I wish I included others because they’re funny, but there’s so many choices and decisions you can make with it,” Elizabeth Buckway continued.
No matter who ends up getting put on the cake, a majority can agree that it is a fun trend and activity to do with friends and is a great way to laugh and eat some cake.
