Dancing With the Stars has been a popular TV show since it first aired on June 5, 2005. The program has definitely gained popularity over the years, including with students. With the recent conclusion of Season thirty-three, we were curious about how students felt about the show, the stars, and the season’s outcome.
This year, it is estimated that Dancing With the Stars had around 7.32 million viewers and record voting numbers this season. Many students are among these viewers and love the show, tuning in to watch the newest episode each week. Many have enjoyed watching the newest season.
Junior Rees May said, “It was a fun show to watch and it made me happy to see all the people, especially the Olympians and stuff.”
Many viewers had a favorite celebrity, one they were rooting for from their couches. Many students were hoping former Bachelor, Joey Graziadei, would win. They were happy when he took home the mirror ball trophy.
Junior Amy Gurney said, “I wanted Joey to win. I think he’s beautiful and funny and I love him. I also love his partner, Jenna, I think her choreography is awesome.”
Some students, though they agreed that Joey deserved the win, felt that the final standings of the other contestants—Ilona Maher in second, Chandler Kinney in third, Stephen Nederoscik in fourth, and Danny Amendola in fifth—should have been different.
Rees May continues by saying, “I was happy Joey won, but I think Chandler should’ve gotten second.”
After all votes and scores were taken into account and the winners were announced, another season came to an end. But this doesn’t mean it’s the end of Dancing With the Stars. Another season is supposed to come out next September, and fans are looking forward to watching it.
Junior Amy Gurney said, “I will absolutely watch the next season! It gives me life through the months that it airs. Tuesdays feel empty without Dancing With the Stars.”
