Star wars is a classic. There’s no arguing that, But is it that good? I believe that star wars is the second greatest movie franchise of all time second only to lord of the rings. This franchise is an absolute gem and would probably be the greatest movie franchise of all time if it weren’t for Disney’s recent involvement in the franchise. But there is still little to harp on with this franchises story telling and atmosphere.
The first reason that this franchise is so coveted is its atmosphere. Star wars is undeniably beautiful whether your watching the prequel’s, the original films or the modern films. I love the original films backgrounds the most because they were hand drawn and later put into the movie and I think they are such a beautiful reminder of where the franchise came from. But the backgrounds are one thing, and the music is a whole other beast. John Williams is undeniably the greatest movie composer of all time. With his work in Indiana jones and others but, it is no question that Star wars is his most recognizable project.
The second reason that I wanted to talk about this film is the story telling. Its no question why this series is so coveted when the story set the bar for film franchises story-wise. Its original story with the first three films having so much question around even background characters that the franchise later installed movies, and shows about at least 6 original characters. Just going to show the ability that star wars has to portray a story.
As the years have passed since the original films have released and the magic of star wars has faded there is still so much to pick up on and rewatch for in the series. It is a franchise that you can watch through a million times and it would never get old because of its storytelling and atmosphere. That being said I would rate star wars an A
