In high school, there are a lot of things going on in our lives like sports, having a job, social events, and keeping up with chores and school work. Because of this, when is there time to sleep? Many teenagers fall asleep at several different times. Lets interview FHS students on how much sleep they get per night, so we can get an idea of a high schoolers sleep schedule.
“I go to bed anytime from 10 to 1am on a school night and around 1:30am on the weekend. I can’t fall asleep some nights but some of those nights I don’t go to bed late because of homework.”- Junior, Maycee Reese said
With a high schooler’s busy life there is not a lot of time to do homework unless you’re completing it at school. This is what makes night time the best and sometimes the only time you can fit homework in and get it done. However, homework can take hours. So doing it at night can lead to going to bed at 1am.
“I go to bed at 12 most nights because I have a job and work till 10pm almost every shift. So I get home late and have to go to bed late”- Junior, Milla Berlin said
Having a job can be time consuming and can go late into the day on a school night. Getting home at 10 means you still need maybe even to eat dinner and still get fully ready for bed, before you can go to sleep, this makes it so you are staying up even later from the time you get home.
There are many things that can affect a high schooler’s sleep schedule, but these two things are what I hear most students complain about on a daily basis. All you can do is find a bedtime routine that is perfect for you and stick to it!
