A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, is a complicated mystery book trilogy with a romantic story on the side. This series follows a high school girl named Pip who chooses to reopen a closed missing, murder case of a girl in her town for her school final. This leads her into opening a podcast in which she documents her findings of the dark secrets of her town. But the farther down Pip goes the darker it gets and the more danger she gets in.
This book trilogy is very popular among middle schoolers and young adults. It leads the reader through multiple questioning puzzles and twists. But, the most favorable part about the series to most readers is the relationship that forms between Pip and a boy who helps her solve the case, Ravi. Ravi is viewed as a lovable and important character to the plot. Pip, on the other hand, has controversy on if she is likeable or not. Some readers claim she is an annoying character who gets mad about situations she put herself in. While, other readers claim she is a genius who helps serve justice to a wrong situation.
I think Pip is one of the best characters from this series. She is an ambitious individual who has a strong will in what is right. Pip refuses to back down on the things she’s committed too. And I think without that she wouldn’t have been able to solve the cases she did.
On the other hand, I think Ravi is an overrated character. He doesn’t do much for solving cases. He helps with a few minor things but overall he is just there to be Pip’s boyfriend. I think he should’ve been a more important character than he was.
Overall, this series was lovable and mysterious in a way that kept me wanting more. The plot was original and so much fun to read. It was an entertaining story to read and was fun to connect to the characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a new series to read.
