In one of my earlier reviews I went over Playboi Carti’s, March 14th release “I am music”. This much anticipated album left fans with mixed emotions. On one hand you had the fans who thought it was genius and his best work, on the other hand you had fans who were calling it lazy and his worst project to date. In this debate I drifted somewhere in the middle of this crowd. I thought that the album had hits but it wasn’t a great conglomerate. But on March 25 Carti surprise released a deluxe to his album, calling it Sorry for da wait.
This deluxe is five songs long and they are all on my repeat list. The catch to the deluxe is that it is the music that Playboi had released on You tube with the exception of FOMDJ. This being the case I could have not been more excited to see one of my favorite of his songs, 2024 come to streaming services. This melodic yet psychedelic beat ensnared by Playboi Cartis unique vocals makes for an enticing listen and one that you can always find yourself coming back too. The second track I would like to highlight is FOMDJ, this bass boosted banger is a great fun listen for any occasion. I personally have had this song on repeat while I play basketball. I find that its an energy bringer and has an energetic aura to it.
At the end of the day, when we talk about Playboi Carti, its not the 30 track album that we talk about. Its the five songs from that album that we will be listening to for the rest of our lives. This deluxe shows us the hits. No small talk. If you have not listened already I would recommend it, I rate this deluxe a B+.
