This year’s Met Gala’s look was “Tailored for You”. This put many of the people in looks that were classy and sleek. These outfits were in a more avant-garde manner. In this year’s Met Gala we saw many celebrities, most notably including Rihanna, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Zendaya, and Hailey Bieber.

Getting into what these looks contained, I felt as if Rihanna’s outfit was a mix of good and bad. Following the theme, it felt to me as if she was a little off. Something about the drop waist corset was throwing me off. It didn’t feel like it looked as classic and sleek as it needed to be. Going along the line, the cropped suit jacket was also off theme in my opinion. That didn’t seem very “tailored” to her. However, the skirt she paired with it, was really on point for the theme, and was a long, skin tight, flowy gown look.

Within Hailey Bieber’s outfit, I felt as if hers was just basic. It felt a lack of creativity and originality. She was in a simple black suit coat for her top and dark tights for her bottoms. However, some people did like her look and think that simple can be better. But for me personally, I just couldn’t get behind the fact it felt like it was lacking some serious creativity. 

Zendaya’s look on the other hand, I found particularly lovely. Many people have been talking about her look, agreeing with the statement that it’s one theme and perfect for her. She rocked a white suit with flared out bottoms. And topping off with a matching flowy hat. I think that this outfit fit the standards for the theme and fits her personally as well.

Within all of the hundreds of outfits and looks seen, I think that overall, many of them were on brand and perfect additions to this year’s Met Gala. I do hope to see more outfits and themes similar to this in future Met Gala’s and would love to see what other looks these celebrities have up their sleeves.
