With summer beginning just next week, I’m sure everyone has exciting things to look forward to. And as you’re either tanning outside, swimming, or just in your car, I’m sure a lot of people, especially teenagers, have music on the agenda for summer.

As we all know there are thousands of different music and songs out there. However, what music is going to be a staple for this 2025 summer? I’ve heard many mixed things from movie soundtracks to old 2000’s music, and of course to current music. Everything from rap to pop.

“I think I’ll be listening to the Top Gun soundtrack, because it’s summer-y.” sophomore Rylee Allen said.

Rylee likes listening to songs that remind her of previous summers. And a more upbeat song is more fun and summer-like to her. She wants to play lots of songs from that soundtrack, whether she’s in the car, outside, or in her room. She is super excited to play music and have a cool memory from the summer.

On the other hand, for me personally, I see myself listening to more early 2000’s basic girl music. This includes the songs from artists like young Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry. For me, these songs remind me of childhood and I find them so fun to play in the car with friends. And on top of all of that, these songs are so common that most everyone knows the lyrics which makes it even more fun. As well, these songs can be used for many types of scenarios, like swimming, tanning, driving, or just hanging out in your room. I find them very upbeat and bring and exciting tone into the situation. 

As many different options and opinions there are about music for this summer, I’m sure everyone will have there fun summer playlists out and have an even better time listening to them.
