The late 1990s and early 2000s is famous for romantic comedies. They just don’t make many movies as good as those early 2000s ones. But if you haven’t gotten to watch any of these iconic movies yet, here are some of the top best ones according to my own personal opinions.
At number three, I’d have to put She’s the Man. Starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Bynes, this movie is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen. It’s about a high schooler named Viola (Amanda Bynes) who wants to be a part of the boys soccer team so she pretends to be her brother for a few months at his only boys school. Dressing up like her brother, to prove the point she could be just as good as a boy on the soccer team. However, her roommate, Duke (Channing Tatum) is super hot and she slowly begins falling for him, only he doesn’t know who she actually is.
Next is The Notebook, this movie is more on the dramatic side of Rom-Coms, as its ending is very bitter, sweet, and tearful. However, the story line is incredible. It’s about two teenagers who fall in love with each other in the 50s. However, their social classes tear them apart after the summer. It stars Ryan Gosling as Noah, and Rachel McAdams as Ally. After their teenage years, they separate, but find each other again years later, as Noah makes a house that Ally envisioned as a teenager. This is how they end up falling for each other again. This movie is very heartwarming and has a funny twist to it.
And at number one, I’d have to put Ten Things I Hate About You. This movie stars Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. In this movie Kat (Julia Stiles) is more of a cold hearted person and her younger sister isn’t allowed to date until she does. So her younger sister and the guy she wants to date end up paying someone to go out with her, Patrick (Heath Ledger) , the guy who a lot of people find intimidating and scary. However, Patrick begins falling for Kat, and doesn’t care about the money anymore. So much more happens in this movie, and there are multiple subplots that are other people’s love stories.
There are tons of late 1990s to 2000s rom coms that are so fun to watch. These three however, are my own personal top three, that I think are very entertaining to watch and bring in a funny and exciting attitude.
