With Halloween creeping around the corner, some of the greatest seasonal purchases can be made. This includes Halloween candy. Candy for Halloween includes a wide range of candy staples, including, sweet and sour candy. Some candy is sweet tasting such as gummy candies and chocolate, while other candy is sour like Sour Patch Kids or Warheads. Certain people like both, neither, or just one of those. But is there a preference between the two?

“I’d have to choose sour candy because I like the flavor and it’s kind of fun,” junior Nixon Salazar says.

Some individuals prefer sour candy over sweet, and this can be because of a wide range of reasons, including the flavor but, most of all, the fun of it. There is something that makes eating sour candy almost spontaneous for some people and this is due to the fact of the way it makes your face pucker,and not to forget the funny faces you can see your friends make when they eat it. 

“Sweet candy. I just think it tastes better and the flavor is more enjoyable,” junior Lauryn Call says.

Aside from sour candy, some like sweet better. This could be a wide range of reasoning, including the flavor. Flavor is one of the biggest things that makes or breaks a candy. People may find sour candy less appetizing due to its less sweet flavor. Sweet candy’s flavor, according to Lauryn, is a more enjoyable flavor, that is more tasty than if it had a sour coating on it. 

During the month of Halloween, there are two types of people, ones who reach for the sour candy, or ones who reach for the sweet, both can be equally as good, and with an even balance, you can enjoy both types of candies, however, there is definitely a preference depending on the person between the two, this makes or breaks the candy for them.
