The 2023-2024 season is the end of the conference of champions the PAC-12. Many fans of the west coast don’t know what the future holds for them. The Ending of the PAC-12 come down to many things but the main reason is the failure to land media rights agreements that match conferences such as the SEC and Big 10.
Before the 2022 football season USC announced that they have partnered with UCLA to leave the PAC-12 which was something that fans knew was coming. It was a major blow to the Pac-12 and many wondered what the conference was going to do to try to bring these universities back and to make other schools not want to leave. Many People complained that USC and UCLA didn’t care about its fans or Alumni and that they only cared about the larger financial gain they would receive from Joining the Big 10. With NIL starting many universities knew they would need big media deals to gain money for their athletes.
Farmington High has many Utah fans I reached out to a couple about their opinions on the End of the PAC-12. Ashton Scholz Senior and Farmington said “It’s really sad to see the conference that I grew up watching fall apart. I haven’t really known anything but the PAC 12 because I was so young when we Joined but I think Utah will find great success in the Big 10.
The University’s that were left stayed until they found out what the PAC 12 new media deal would be. After months of no deal the PAC 12 Commissioner came out with the idea of a Apple TV All Streaming deal but the universities didn’t like the deal and in July Colorado announced that they would be going back to the BIG 12. Which not soon after the rest of the schools also announced they would also be leaving to other Conferences. Leaving only 2 University’s gaining the name PAC-2
Right now the 2 universities that are left are Washington State and Oregon State. Those schools are fighting in my court battles to help them clear this crisis.
