Students Opinions Of Celebrating Christmas Before Thanksgiving

There has been much debate on whether people should get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving. This could include putting up lights, decorations, listening to Christmas music and basically anything related to Christmas.

Once November hits most say Christmas is just around the corner but in reality Thanksgiving is almost a full month before Christmas. Let’s imagine you are in Farmington Utah it is November 1st the day after Halloween, you look around you and people are taking down their Halloween decorations sad right Halloween is over. But almost immediately after they put up their Christmas decorations this includes festive lights, big pine trees, everything to do with Christmas. Even though Christmas is still more than a month and a half away.

There are two sides to this those that say Christmas decorations plus Christmas music should be before Thanksgiving and there are those that say anything Christmas should be after Thanksgiving. In a poll by Nix New’s Instagram there was a total of 46 votes,16 people said they listened to Christmas music before Thanksgiving and 30 of them said they listen to Christmas music after Thanksgiving.

“I think listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving should be illegal. They should listen to it after Thanksgiving because it ruins the whole point of Thanksgiving, one holiday at a time,” Sophomore, Saige Jorgenson, said.

When it comes down to Christmas before Thanksgiving some people have very strong opinions. Others make the point that who cares what music they listen to and when, if they want to get hyped up for Christmas let them do it.

“I think listening to Christmas music should be whenever you want, whether it is before Thanksgiving after Thanksgiving, whenever. I personally like to listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving because it gets me excited for Christmas,” Sophomore, Lilly Wright, said.

Some say that when you start to listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving you are completely skipping the holiday. Most people make the argument that Thanksgiving has no music to listen to so you can’t get excited about it in that way, but Christmas does have music and when you listen to the music it gets you excited and happy for the Holiday to come.

Although Thanksgiving does not have all the decorations, Christmas, has a tree or colorful lights. You can still decorate for it. Most people tend to decorate Thanksgiving with fall objects like leaves, maybe put up a picture of a cartoon turkey, or maybe some kind of fake food you normally have for a Thanksgiving feast. These decorations are fun and can get you excited, but Christmas just outshines Thanksgiving in
