The king of pop is back on stage and ready to rock! With the new Michael Jackson movie out and running in theaters, everyone is generating extreme excitement and for all the right reasons. The movie is set to have main focus on Michael Jackson’s personal life, career, and the many controversies that surrounded him at the time. We were hyped to ask Farmington High students what their thoughts are on the biopic!

“I haven’t seen the movie yet, but Michael is a total icon. From what I’ve heard, the critics wanted more negative parts of his life to be shown, rather than only positives,” said Sophomore Maddy Newbold.

Not only is the movie exciting from many perspectives, but another fascinating aspect is the involvement that Michael Jackson’s estate has within the biopic! This leads to the movie having access to rare footage, music, and personal stories from the music legend. This not only creates a more opening view for people to see into Michael Jackson’s life, but also a more authentic portrayal of him as whole. The movie is supposed to dive deep into the mystery of his childhood and how the Jackson 5 became famous. And later turned Michael Jackson into the most extraordinary solo superstar we know him as today.

“I plan on watching it really soon, as I think it is so cool that it’s Michael Jackson’s nephew that is playing his uncle in the movie!” said Sophomore Sophie Judd.

That’s right, Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, who is the son of Jermaine Jackson, is playing ‘Michael’ in the new biopic! How awesome is that? Jaafar Jackson truly is the best cast to play Michael Jackson, both on a personal level because of the relation between the two but also how similar they look. This makes the movie feel like Michael is once again, right in front of our eyes!

Jaafar Jackson worked hard to transition into his uncle, to both prove his determination and passion towards representing the Jackson family and to continue to honor his uncle’s legacy in the worldwide music industry.
