Counselors Talk About Class Change Night

The end of the semester is right around the corner, so that means new teachers and classes. A lot of students are going to want to change their classes after the first day of the semester. Class change night is on January 22 from 3 PM  to 5 PM.

“Students usually come in to switch teachers and get in to classes with friends,” Farmington counselor, Shanna Coleman, said.

Students aren’t allowed to switch teachers before class change night because then some teachers would have way more students than others, so the counselors aren’t allowed to change them before then. A lot of students want to switch to teachers they had first semester or switch because they didn’t like their previous teacher because of this.

They also generally will try to switch class periods because their friends are in the same class but different period. This makes it hard, though, because that’s how classes get so full.

“I would say that ninety percent of the time students are able to make the changes they want. If we can’t change anything, they get a refund,” Counselor, Staci Jolley, said.

There is a $10 fee that you have to pay in order to change any classes. You can pay this fee in the main office and bring the receipt with you to class change night.

Most students go together to make sure they get into classes with each other, so they usually get the changes that they want. It’s not often that the office has to refund them because they couldn’t make any changes.

So, if you want to make any changes to your classes, drop classes or switch teachers, make sure you pay the $10 fee, and are at school on January 22 from 3 to 5!
