Procrastination is a student’s worst enemy, and we’ve all fallen victim. Going through the cycle of no work for four weeks, then crunching a whole term’s worth into the last two is common for a lot of us. I know that when I was a sophomore, I wished that I’d been given some tips on keeping up on my work and how to stay up-to-date.

“My strategy for keeping up the last three years, especially at the end of term, is watching due dates on summit and canvas. Extra credit has saved my butt so many times, try and get your AFAs done as soon as possible,” senior, Isaac Teeples, said.

Our seniors have been doing this for three years and have figured out how to stay on top of it…if they choose to…Summit’s whole point is not having deadlines, but they do have advised due dates. The best way to stay on top of your work is definitely follow those suggested dates. AFAs can “save your butt”, and getting those out of the way early will help you avoid the assignment crunch.

Sometimes the crunch is unavoidable, I’ve definitely been there. Luckily for us there is sometimes a way out.

“I definitely use the content assessment lab! Mostly at the end of term when I get stuck in the ‘crunch’. I would say to try and do it early in the term, though, because the last two weeks in the lab are always insane because there are so many students,” junior, Frankie Winter, said.

The Content Assessment Lab may be your saving grace at the end of term, but utilizing MAPS is important as well. The common theme here is to get your work done as soon as possible!

“Don’t procrastinate!! If I do end up in the ‘crunch’ I sit down and work on what I can do at my house and work on it for an hour, then take a five minute break. When I get to school, I try to use my MAPS class as much as I can,” sophomore, Kaylie Uzelac, said.

The best advice I can give is to NOT PROCRASTINATE! Sometimes it’s hard to get things done at home, but luckily we have MAPS and the Content Assessment Lab. Try to use these tools early in the term and do your best to avoid the end of term ‘assignment crunch’.
