2022 has already been a big year for Hollywood with the release of Batman, Uncharted, Death on the Nile, and many more. Many people doubted that movies and big theater releases would ever come back, but I would say they have. With so many streaming services coming out, it’s becoming harder and more expensive to watch new release movies. Many people are going back to the original way to watch new releases. Many more movies are coming out this year than in recent years. I recently talked to some Farmington High students about what movies they are excited for this year.

“I’m excited to see Minions 2. Despicable Me is one of my favorite childhood movies and I can’t wait to see what they do with the franchise,” sophomore, Sarah Walters, said.

The Despicable Me franchise is a very successful and popular franchise for many reasons. Many movie critics have said they are some of the best childhood movies ever made.

The last Minions was released in 2015 bringing in a total of 1.159 billion dollars. Yes billion, with a B. Kids movies that go over a billion are very big successes, which is going to help the release of Minions 2 this summer. Many fan-favorite cast members are also returning. Tiktok and many other social media apps are hyping up the release of Minions 2, which I think is going to be the biggest kids movie this year.

“I heard Black Panther 2 is coming out this year. I’m super excited for that one, the first one is probably my favorite movie ever. But I am so sad that Chadwick Boseman isn’t in it,” sophomore, Brinley Mattson, said.

Marvel has been very big in the last couple of years, which is going to help make Black Panther 2 a big success. Black Panther is one of the highest grossing comic movies ever made. Bringing in a total of 1.344 billion dollars worldwide, and is also known as critic’s favorite Marvel movie.

Black Panther 2 has also been in a lot of news lately with the passing of Chadwick Boseman. When Boseman died, many people didn’t know if Disney would still go ahead with their plans, but they eventually announced they would still be going ahead with the second film. Many movie experts have predicted that Black Panther 2 will be the biggest movie in 2022.

According to the responses, many people are excited for new movie releases this year, which means many other people across the world are too.
