Over the past couple of years, Stories have become the main way to post on social media. Overall, the premise for Snapchat stories and Instagram Stories are the same. Many people argue that one is better, but both definitely have their advantages and disadvantages. I recently asked Farmington High Students if they like Insta Stories or Snap Stories better, and these are their responses.

“I really like how Snapchat stories work because people don’t care what they put on them,” sophomore, Cole Taylor, said.

Launched in 2014, Snapchat’s ‘My Story’ feature allows users to create stories with photos and videos that are available for 24 hours. One of Snapchat’s big advantages is Private Stories which let you select the individuals for who you want to view your content. Many people use this feature to show off their lives and many other things. Stories is one of Snapchat’s biggest features. Many companies such as Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram have copied or made their own version of Snapchat stories.

“Instagram stories are great, but Snapchat stories  work so much better. I also have enjoyed the private story feature on Snapchat. It works so much better,” sophomore, Tyler Jacobs, said.

Instagram stories launched in 2016. “Instagram Stories” are vertical photos or videos, up to 15 seconds, that disappear after 24 hours after posting. Instagram stories are nearly a clone of Snapchat stories built to be integrated with the successful Instagram app.On Instagram, you can catch up to all the stories you haven’t seen in a single click, and stories are right on top of your feed. For Snapchat, Snaps still require a swipe, and without a ‘Watch All’ option, you have to manually choose which snaps you want to view. Both options have their pros and cons.
