Disney has arguably been one of the best movie makers for a long time, creating many classics like “Princess and the Frog,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Dumbo” and bringing others to life like “Cinderella,” “Tangled” and “Snow White.” Now, however, many people are arguing that Disney has lost its magic.
Disney was founded by Walt Disney on Oct 16, 1923, and, until recently, has brought fans joy, imagination, and many childhood memories.
Movies like “Wish,” “Strange World,” “Moana 2” and “Lightyear” have been criticized for their lack of heart and accused of being created for the sole purpose of making money.
Disney has recently been producing remakes. They are not making new and innovative ideas, and have become more focused on producing profit rather than enchanting stories.
Another issue former fans have with Disney is politicization of the films.
“Disney [is] putting too many adult things, like politics, into kids’ movies,” sophomore Ryon Bingham said.
Bingham claimed Disney is trying to implement too many “woke” and political aspects into the stories meant for children.
Now, under new leadership, many people seem to think that Disney has lost their touch because of the lack of imagination in their stories today.
“New Disney movies are weirder because they don’t have the imagination and heart,” sophomore Jess Bybee said.
People see Disney becoming less and less heartfelt, and losing touch with what made it memorable and magical.
