Family is everything, something we never doubt upon and staying together even when times get tough. Avatar the Way of Water shows exactly how that goes, when the Sully’s have to flee their known home in the big forest on Pandora, to save themselves and their people from the evil above.
Avatar the Way of Water is a follow up from the original first Avatar movie, 15/16 years later. This gives a very realistic timeline from the first movie to the second. The movie starring Zoe Saldana(Neytiri) and Sam Worthington(Jake Sully), who are the unusual two lovers in the Avatar series. In the second movie, we see that Neytiri and Jake have a family, including Neteyam(Oldest). Kiri(Second oldest), Lo’ak(Third oldest), and Tuk(Youngest).
As a long term Avatar fan of the Avatar series, I feel that every single actor did such a remarkable job acting. There were so many different emotions that were shown throughout the movie, it was so emotionally intense to watch for the first time. It was felt right in the heart and not only that, it was also such a beautiful movie too, both physically and emotionally. Zoe Saldana(Neytiri) is now a mother of four and during the death of her oldest son, Neteyam, she went feral, it was like she became a territorial predator. She went so into character and did such a professional job. Many people were amazed by her acting in that scene, because it felt so real and you could feel her anger and hopelessness through the screen.
After the movie was released, Zoe Saldana said in an interview that she didn’t want to do that scene because of how emotionally and physically draining it is, and that all she knew from grieving mothers that mourn the loss of their child, was these angry, sad, grieving sounds.
Sam Worthington(Jake Sully) was not as emotional as Neytiri during the death of their son, but he did prove the main purpose of the movie. Family is everything. It’s the bond that you have with you through life, it’s the protection of each and everyone, and most importantly it’s your home. Sam Worthington was such a both caring and protective father, but also harsh and stonehearted when he had to be.
The plot of the movie(Neteyam’s death) was something nobody expected, but it added so much more to the movie itself. On an overall scale I think the movie was absolutely amazing. There was so much work, emotion, and teamwork put into it, and it’s such a stunning and astonishing story. On my behalf I clearly give it a big 10/10.
