The Christmas season brings fun and exciting things into life. From controversial hot takes on animated classics to passionate arguments about whether Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie, we’re bringing you the raw, unfiltered opinions and cozy traditions of your classmates.
“I think the best Christmas movie is Polar Express, I know it’s old and it has bad animations, but I grew up watching it and I can rehearse half the movie by memory.” Senior Edmond Cooley said
Polar express (which came out in 2004) is for sure a fan favorite. Some people might think it feels like a fever dream in which you can’t escape from, but overall, it brings Christmas spirit by singing songs and following a boy that is trying to navigate the Polar Express.
“The best Christmas movie is Home Alone. I love the big family and the view of being the youngest in the family. I also love the behind the scenes of filming. Apparently, they built the house inside a school gym and everything on the inside is either green or red. It cracks me up every time I watch it.” Junior Gavin Johnson said.
Home alone, a movie that definitely sparks controversy. Maybe over if people like it or not, but definitely how the robbers don’t die from the traps Kevin sets. Released in 1990 it made over $476M worldwide with a relatively low budget. Also holding records for live action comedies.
“The best Christmas movie is without a doubt, Elf. It is so funny and shows parents that they need more holiday cheer. It must have the most one liners ever and I know all of them. ‘He’s an angry elf’, ‘Bye buddy'”. Junior Jess smith said
Released in 2003, it managed to gross over $220M worldwide on a modest $33M budget. It immediately secured its place as a modern holiday classic, proving that sometimes, all you need for a box-office hit is a giant man-child navigating the human world of New York City and convincing us all that we need more Christmas cheer.
