We all know the legendary story about the spirit the horse! Some are yet to know this beautiful story, others grew up with the movie. The original spirit movie was released on May 24, 2002 while other replicas of the movie came out almost 20 years later. We asked students at Farmington what their opinions are on the new spirit movies and if they knew the story of spirit when they grew up!
“Yes i did watch the original spirit movie, it was when I was at this family reunion for seven days, and i swear we watched it every single day, such a peak movie really” Junior Sienna Shiner said.
The original spirit movie, called ‘Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron’ was the first ever spirit movie before others came along the way, to widen the story even further. The original movie was very old-fashioned, due to it being from the early 2000’s. It was heartwarming, knowing all the work and effort that was put into every single detail of the first movie to be released.
“My opinion on the new spirit movies and the old one, will probably be the old one. I grew up with the movie and it’s been a childhood memory that will stay stuck with me through many years to come!” Junior Macie West said.
Many different opinions are expressed towards the new spirit movies that are made in the more modern day. Some people think it’s a great way to give out new angles and perspectives of the movie, others think it takes away from the very original spirit movie, such as new characters coming into the series, totally different story line and main characters from the original movie, getting taken out of the picture, such as ‘Rain’ who is the famous female horse from the story that spirit in the end bonds with and eventually become mates for the rest of the story. The new movies about spirit are still important and give other fantastic, creative sights on the spirit story itself. It shows how us humans can form such a strong, passionate and loving bond with a special animal, in this case, being a horse. Spirit is such a beautiful story that will forever be stuck in many hearts for the rest of eternity, with its great storytelling and meaning.
