Getting new classes can be super exciting and a great way to get ready for the new school year. But how do you know which classes to take or what classes you need to take? Here are a few tips and ideas that might help you feel better about selecting new classes.

One thing to keep in mind is knowing what type of career path you want to pursue in the future. Whether it’s in the medical field, marine biologist, astronomer, ornithologist etc..

Farmington High School provides lots of different courses and classes giving you the chance to get an early start or feel what you want to continue.

It’s okay if you’re unsure on what to do in the future. Start with selecting the electives you’ll need to graduate. This way you know for sure what you do need to take. Then from there select the classes you might be interested in. It’s good to get a variety of different things to try them out and see what you like. You can always switch out if it’s not for you.

“When I would get stressed about deciding on what classes I should take, I would use my graduation summary to know what credits I need.” Senior, Maddie Wayment, said.

Another great suggestion is to talk to your counselor. They can help you look at all your options and break down what will be the most beneficial for you. If you don’t know who your counselor is, go to the Farmington High School website and look for the first initial of your last name.

“My go to tip would be to look at your graduation summary and look at the credits you need. I also look for ce classes to get more college credit.” Senior, Gretchen Davis said.

It’s okay to feel overwhelmed when deciding, but just remember that you can always change your mind if you need to.
