Farmington Needs More Traditions

Farmington Needs More Traditions

Highschool traditions are very important and memorable to many individuals. Some traditions they can still recall to this day with a smile on their face. The fun crazy years of highschool they will always remember.

There’s a buzz around school that the student body has a need for traditions. Some might think there are no traditions because we are a new highschool. Others think it’s because administrators are being too strict and shutting down traditions that barely got started. Here is one great tradition idea.

Sophomore Daxon Quist shares his proposal for an epic tradition.  “An actual tradition I’m being dead serious about is Stomps … they’re like mini dances just after football games but combined with the school you played against … My dad  always talks about how much fun he would have at them. He would meet so many new people.”

Many other students agree with Daxon because it creates a unity between high schools all over the state. It would make our students feel at home at Farmington highschool because we would be hosting other students. A tradition hosting stomps invites students to be connected to their highschool and each other, and allows them to represent the values of Farmington high school.

There are many students with many great ideas to create new traditions at FHS. However students feel that faculty are not interested, and it seems the answer is always no.

“I think admin shouldn’t be strict, because when we have traditions it gives our school more life, it’s more fun, and more enjoyable, but then they just shut it down and then our school is boring.” Stated Sophomore Brigham Burns

Dax Quist agreed when he said, “It definitely helps us come together as one.”

Students want what the administration isn’t hearing. I think the administration needs to listen. People are more invested when they feel like they belong and there is unity. The influence on solidifying a strong connection to highschool now leads to future benefits in the future of FHS.

The students now  will soon be alumni. It is through alumni donations that the future opportunities of Farmington high school can continue to expand and grow. The administration can invest in future opportunities now by cultivating a relationship by providing and supporting traditions.

By letting us students incorporate traditions into our high school career it will make our years as students even more memorable and exciting to share with others the fun times we had at Farmington high school. It will make us more willing to support FHS in the future, so that others can have just as amazing memories as we could have.
