Traditions are something that people look forward to every year. Whether it’s a family dinner or a movie marathon, it creates a sense of routine and often brings friends and families closer together. Most people share a tradition with their family or friends around holidays, such as Halloween.
There are many different types of traditions. For example, some families host a game night. Jack Halls, a teacher at Farmington High School, plays Halloween bingo every year with his mom, his kids, and his nieces and nephews. This tradition is something that helps bring his family closer together since it allows them to spend quality time and is consistent every year. This tradition has been in his family for a very long time and is hosted by his mother.
“She picked it up from my grandma, so it’s at least 40 years old,” teacher Jack Halls says.
Another tradition that is common during the holidays is a classic movie marathon. There’s nothing more nostalgic than watching that one specific movie series with the people that you love every year, especially if it’s something that has been happening since you were young. Noah Green, a Junior at Farmington High School, watches Halloween movies with his parents and sister every year.
“Every October before Halloween, we watch the Halloween Town movies as a family,” junior Noah Green says.
Movie marathons are the perfect opportunity to bring your family close together. Not only is it simple, making it easy to do every year, but it’s also a good excuse to make time to sit down and spend time with your family for a couple of hours.
“It literally never gets old to be honest,” Noah Green says.
