Imagine waking up with the ability to fly or become invisible. What would you do first?
Superpowers have fascinated us for decades, from comic books to movies, ancient myths to modern superheroes. The idea of superpowers sparks our imagination and dreams, making us feel like anything is possible.
People have always had different opinions about what superpowers are best, but some are consistently the most popular. These include flight, super strength, invisibility, and power over the elements.
What if you could choose one superpower? Would you pick super strength, mind reading, or something else?
“I would want to fly to get around faster,” sophomore Ryon Bingham said.
“I want telekinesis to see if people are talking about me,” sophomore Jess Bybee said.
These students want powers that would help them with their day-to-day lives, and make living easier.
Although superpowers could help you with your day-to-day life, they could also help other people.
“I would want to be able to heal anyone, to help people be safe and ok,” sophomore Brynley Harrison said.
This shows how superpowers could help others and be a strength to the community.
Sometimes people say that there are costs to superpowers: losing friends when you can see their real thoughts, birds, bugs, and other flying objects getting in the way of you flying, or even healing people to the point where they never die.
These problems are bad, but the benefits of superpowers far outweigh the costs: helping, healing, and even just having fun. Superpowers could make the world a better place.
