Thrifting is a great way to find great clothing, furniture, books, toys, or anything else you need at a very low price. When you thrift it recycles old clothing and is very good for the environment because it minimizes waste and thrown away clothing. Some people have a hard time finding clothes they actually like and so they think that thrifting is useless or too much work, but really when you learn how, thrifting is one of the best ways to shop. So, how do you thrift right?
Sophomore, Maya Bradshaw, said, “Half of my closet is probably thrifted”.
Step 1: Make a plan
When thrifting it is best to decide before you go what you need to get. One way you can do this is to make a list of what you need, like a jacket or shorts, and make sure to start with those areas.
Another way you can make a plan is to choose a color or style of what you want. Look for things that fit into that category and you will definitely have success.
Step 2: Don’t limit yourself
After you are ready to go thrifting make sure to keep an open mind. Thrift in the men’s women’s and kid’s section. Look all over because you never know what you might find.
Sophomore, Makenna Collard, said, “I find the best stuff when I thrift in unexpected places like the men’s or kid’s section”.
You could cut that shirt or sew those jeans. You could take something ugly and make it great.
Step 3: Get some time
If you want to find the good stuff make sure to have a lot of time on your hands. Thrift stores have a lot of stuff to look through and you need lots of time to find the best things.
Step 4: Have fun
Thrifting can be very exciting especially with friends. Make sure to enjoy yourself and follow the formula!
