It’s that time of year for seniors to apply for college and start making decisions about their future. Applying for college and scholarships can be stressful yet rewarding.
“Senior year has been so stressful because we actually have to think about our future and start taking on those responsibilities.” Senior Juliet Tejedor, said
Being responsible is a big factor in having a successful future. Students must take the resources provided for them, work hard, and meet deadlines. Application and scholarship deadlines aren’t like assignment deadlines you can’t just procrastinate till the last second. If you want to go to a good college or get a good scholarship you have to take the time to thoroughly look for the requirements and apply before the strict deadlines. You can receive many different types of scholarships whether that be academic, sport, or talent based.
“I’ve been working extra hard in school so that I can get an academic scholarship and don’t have to spend as much money on college.” Senior, Brecken Dial, said
Money is a big factor when it comes to college and can often decide where students pick to go.
“Even though all my friends are going to Utah State I don’t want to because I’ve heard how expensive it is. I’m thinking about going to a college where I can still live at home, so I don’t have to pay for housing.” Senior Calie Kilgore said.
College and scholarships don’t just apply to seniors, juniors and sophomores should start thinking about what they want to do and where they want to go.
“I already know what I want to go into, so I’ve started to take classes that are helpful for that and have also looked into colleges that are good for the career I want.” Junior Brandt Baugh, said.
Although applying for college and scholarships can be scary it opens up an exciting new chapter in students’ lives.
