Social media is a great way to socialize with people and talk with friends, but it is important to recognize how it is affecting high school students.
There are good sides to social media, it can connect students, teachers, and parents, making it easier to share information and stay in touch. It can also be a great tool for learning.
Being able to contact anyone without having to have their number could be a great thing, but there is a downside to it. With the ability to contact anyone, there is no barrier for bullies to talk to the kids they don’t like. Being contacted online by someone you don’t know or like can be a drastic mood kill and affect your mental state. No student should ever have to deal with social media problems at school, but it happens more than we think.
“Going to school with someone I’m having problems with on social media is hard, and awkward,” says senior Maddie Kendrick.
Balancing your time on social media with other things like school work and things to keep you healthy and safe, will make your overall time on the internet a better experience.
Social media is taking over the way we communicate with each other. Now that you can talk whenever to whoever you would like, it is harder for us to appreciate the time we have with our friends and family.
There are good sides and bad sides to social media, being able to make connections from all over the world. Social Media is very entertaining, making it hard to stop watching and do things you need to do, distracting you from what is important. Yet it is very fun to watch, and making videos is fun. Social media overall isn’t a bad thing, but you need to have balance, especially when you are at school.
