With posters, excitement, and creative ask ideas all over Farmington high, it’s clear when a new dance is getting close. As people are asking about Farmington high school’s next dance. Some students worry about asking too soon; others think it depends on the type of dance.
For many students, asking right after the last dance seems rushed. Even though there is a lot of excitement after the last dance, many students say they need time to reset.
“A week or two after the dance.” Junior Maelee Green said.
Maelee Green shared her views on how even a couple weeks after is already pushing it for her, since it feels like students jump from one event to the next in days. Many agree that having space between two dances is more enjoyable and less stressful.
Another part of the discussion focuses on whether the type of dance changes how early students should ask. With formal and casual dances at Farmington High. Some wonder if one requires more planning than the other.
“Yes, but not super early, maybe like a month.” Senior Jamie Ellefsen said.
Jamie acknowledges that formal dances might require more preparation, but timing still matters. While she agrees that formal dances may need more planning, she still thinks there is a limit to how early is reasonable.
“Before the previous dance.” Junior Mikelle Shurtliff said.
Mikelle explains her opinion, she thinks that asking becomes too early when it is before the previous dance has even finished. Asking before the previous dance can make it feel like students don’t get to enjoy the moment they are currently in.
Though opinions differ, most students agree that the right timing depends on the two involved. Some prefer the surprise and joy from being asked early, while others appreciate having more time between commitments and a break between two events.
