Dating is new and exciting in high school. It’s something many students haven’t done before.
“I remember being nervous for my first dance sophomore year, but it ended up being so fun,” said senior Ryker Brock.
Dating is a good skill to learn. It takes planning and good communication. As students go from sophomore year to senior year, they get the hang of dating and what to expect. The dates also seem to get better.
As students get older, gain more money, and experience more date activities, they start to figure out what’s fun for a group of teenage girls and boys.
“My most recent date was the most fun date I’ve been on. It was a little more expensive because we went snowtubing, but it was worth it and the boys loved it,” said junior Kiera Mickelson.
Something that has become really common on dates, especially dance dates, is going to Maverick. Whether it’s getting a drink or snack before dinner or the much-needed drink after the dance Maverick is filled with teenagers and their dates.
The time of year also affects what kind of dates you can do, affecting the popularity of the date idea.
“My favorite dates usually happen when its warm outside. I like going on hikes, boating, or anything outside like Black Island farms,” said senior Avery Vance.
When it’s cold outside, it limits what you can do, but also has some advantages.
“Winter dates are fun because you usually do something Christmas themed. I love going and seeing Christmas lights,” said sophomore Sydney Brown.
You can see that students love going on dates and meeting new people. Dating is not only a core high school memory but beneficial for future dating and planning activities.
