Valentine’s Day is a special day for everybody. It’s a day where you can show your gratitude and love for the people that you hold dear to your heart. It doesn’t always have to be a day that’s about showing affection for your significant other, it can also be showing love for family member or your best friends!
Farmington High School students have different ways they plan to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
“I don’t really have any form of celebrating Valentine’s Day, but a good night out at Olive Garden with the guys is how I will spend my Valentine’s.” sophomore, Devin Beckstead, said.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14th, and has been around since the 14th-century. It is a tradition that was rooted in Saint Valentine’s Day to honor and celebrate early Christian martyrs. This, however, has changed over the many years into the Valentine’s Day we know today.
In modern days, Valentine’s Day is seen and known worldwide for romantic dates, gestures, flowers, chocolate, and last, of course, hearts! Tons of hearts.
“[I’ll] maybe give my girl a little smooch and some chocolates. I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day in any crazy way,” sophomore, Emerson Lock, said.
Valentine’s Day is also a great day to do fun activities like going out to eat, going on a long walk, or watching the sunset go down with warm blankets and the people you cherish! Not only does showing affect affect the people around you, it strengthens relationships and friendships.
Traditions and how people celebrate Valentine’s Day can be completely different. Some people buy a big bouquet of flowers or go out to eat a fancy dinner, while other show appreciation through a cute love letter or words of affirmation! Both show great love for the people you care about.
