Valentine’s Day isn’t just about hearts and roses – it’s basically the Super Bowl of sweets. Every February, stores turn into pink and red candy, packed with treats that are just as fun to give as they are to eat.
From classic chocolates to trendy snacks, Valentine’s Day goodies have become a big part of how people show appreciation for their friends, family, and crushes.
The most iconic Valentine’s Day treat is definitely chocolate. Heart-shaped boxes filled with assorted chocolates have been a tradition for decades.
“My favorite Valentine’s treat is Hershey kisses,” sophomore Emerson Lock said.
Many people can agree with him because of how popular chocolates are during this holiday.
Caramel, strawberry cream, and truffles are also popular picks, and the fancy packaging makes them feel extremely special for your loved ones. Chocolate companies also often release limited edition flavors, just for the holiday, to make it even more exciting than just a regular candy bar.
Another popular treat is the classic conversation hearts. These small, pastel-colored candies, with tiny messages, have been around for generations.
“Sweethearts are my favorite because they taste really good,” sophomore Will Bott said.
Some people wouldn’t agree because they don’t like the taste, but they will still buy them just for the fun of reading the sayings and sharing them with friends. This goes to show that these conversation hearts are more about the experience than the flavor.
Lately, Valentine’s Day treats have gone way beyond traditional candies. Chocolate-covered strawberries, heart shaped cookies, and red velvet cupcakes have become popular. Mixing different treats and snacks to make a treat box is also a very fun and creative way to personalize a gift and show someone you know their favorites.
Valentine treats aren’t only for couples either. Many people celebrate “Galentine’s Day” with friends, exchanging cute snacks and small gifts. Classroom Valentine’s Day exchanges also make the holiday fun for younger students, who pass out candy and cards to everyone.
These traditions show that Valentine’s Day is really about kindness and connection, not just romance. In the end, Valentine goodies are more than just sugar, they’re a sweet way to make people smile.
