Farmington High School’s “Prince of Egypt” has been breaking records in the amount of tickets ever sold at our FHS auditorium and many people have been wondering why. Could it be the amazing lights and special effects, the incredible acting, the hundreds of awesome costumes, the amazing pit orchestra, or something else entirely?
Prince of Egypt is a very large show that needs many helpers including costume makers, builders, painters, prop makers, light managers, and tons of other people who make this show come together.
“The budget was clearly very high, the costumes and set were awesome”, said junior Maya Bradshaw.
There are more than 200 costumes for this production with an average of 4 per person. This has taken a team of volunteers working tirelessly to create it. The set for this show took many weeks to build, not just the main set, but the chariot, a giant barge, and many other large set pieces that took tons of hard work.
“My favorite part of the show was the music and acting because of how they flow together”, said sophomore Makenna Collard.
Makenna brings up a great point, because preparations for the actors started way back in November, with practices and auditions. This shows the amount of work these actors put into this show, working tirelessly to create an amazing production.
Another great point Makenna made was the music. Unlike many other shows here at FHS, there is a live pit orchestra playing throughout the entire production. This is special because it integrates more students into the show, and adds a deeper, more personal element to this production.
With so many reasons, it’s clear to see why many people want to come see the Prince of Egypt, but could it be these reasons or another making this show nearly sold out almost every night, breaking records for the amount of tickets ever sold at FHS?
