Malik Willis was a quarterback from Atlanta Georgia who had decent offers coming out of high school. Willis committed to Auburn and he thought Auburn would be a good spot for him to blossom into a future NFL player.
Willis did not have the perfect start he wanted. Willis only had 11 passes over his two seasons at Auburn and he wanted a new start. So he transferred to Liberty. Willis became a big time name nationally. Over his two seasons at Liberty, Willis threw 47 touchdowns, along with another 27 touchdowns on the ground. This made some NFL teams think Willis was a first round draft pick he was projected to get picked early in the first round of 2022. Willis fell all the way to the third round. He was selected by the Tennessee Titans.
Willis did not perform the best during his rookie season only completing 50% of his passes, throwing 0 touchdowns, and throwing 3 interceptions. The next season, the Titans were ready to move on drafting Will Levi’s to replace him. This moved Willis to be the back up, maybe even third string quarterback.
Willis was traded to the packers the next season for a 7th round pick this would be something new for Willis. Willis played well when starting QB Jordan Love was injured. Willis led the Packers to beat the Colts and his old team the Titans. He shined that year with a 124.8 passer rating, the highest in NFL history for someone with at least 50 pass attempts. The next season, Willis once again played very well when Jordan Love was injured. Willis threw 422 yards, 3 touchdowns while throwing 85% completed passes.
Willis is an unrestricted free agent and is considered the best QB available. Some predict Willis will get a contract worth 20-30 million this offseason. Could Willis continue his comeback story and prove everyone wrong?
