This year’s top teams have some impressive talent, but the real impact players are the freshman. There were some incredible debuts for some of the nation’s top teams. This year, some of the top freshman players have had incredible debuts, such as Koa Peat, AJ Dybantsa, and Daryn Peterson.
Reigning National Champion, No. 3 Florida, battled till the end vs No. 13 Arizona. The under dogs, Arizona, found a way to upset the gators, 93-87. Arizona’s true freshman, Koa Peat, had a very promising debut – he put up 30 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. How far will this freshman lead the wildcats this season?
Senior, Logan Thurber said, “Koa Peat had a dominant game. He played incredible and he’s a freshman. I think he should be in the conversation for freshman of the year.”
No. 8,BYU, bested Villanova in a close matchup at 71-66, leaving fans wondering if Villanova’s new coach, Kevin Willard, can live up to their high expectations, but the greater conversation revolves around BYU freshman, AJ Dybantsa. Many credit him the Cougar’s victory, with 21 points, six rebounds, and three assists. AJ Dybantsa was ranked as the top high school basketball recruit this season. Will Dybantsa live up to all the media hype this season? So far, he is!

No. 19 Kansas’s true freshman, Daryn Peterson, set fire to the court, the young point guard scored 21 points in just 22 minutes. The Jayhawks blazed their way to victory, dominating Green Bay 94-51.
The freshman have really impressed the nation so far. It seems like it’s going to be a fun and promising year of college basketball.
