Once upon a time, there were 3 mediocre, boring NFL teams. The Colts, the Patriots, and the Broncos were boring to watch, and their underwhelming performances discouraged even their own fan bases from watching during their losing seasons. Then, something magical happened: a little bit of good coaching, young stars, and good development have these teams off to a fairytale start in 2025.
The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the biggest surprises in this story. For fans, the past few years have been rough, with four different starting quarterbacks in four seasons with consistently bad results. Many expected more of the same after Daniel Jones was announced as the starting quarterback at the beginning of this season, but it seems that Jones really is the spark the Colts were hoping for, because the franchise is suddenly winning! With an 8-2 start to the season, games are fun to watch again. Jones’ sidekick, star running back, Jonathan Taylor, is also making a strong case for being the league’s best player. How long will the Colts continue their magical season?
Senior, Logan Thurber, said, “I am beyond shocked with how the colts are doing, with Daniel Jones leading the league in passing yards. Jones has led this powerful offense, with star running back Jonathan Taylor having a career year.”
Just one year ago, the New England Patriots finished at the bottom of the AFC East with a disappointing 4-13 record under new head coach, Jerod Mayo. The team made a quick decision to part ways with Mayo. Under new head coach, Mike Vrabel, the Patriots have completely turned things around. Vrabel has done excellent at developing the team’s young talent, including quarterback Drake Maye, who is now playing lights-out football and is playing like an MVP contender.
Senior, Kyler Johnson, said, “Drake Maye has been essential to the patriots strong start, they’re showing the league how explosive their strong offense has been.”
Although the Denver Broncos made the playoffs last season, they were awful three years ago. The team had a 5-12 record. The Broncos struggled with head coach Nathaniel Hackett; he was soon fired in midseason. The Broncos then hired legendary head coach, Sean Payton, the next season. A year later, the Broncos drafted rookie quarterback, Bo Nix, and made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. The Broncos have been even better this season, currently ranking first in the AFC west.
