
Last week, the Miami Hurricanes defeated Ole Miss in a late-game thriller. Miami’s Carson Beck rushed for the game winning touchdown, with 18 seconds left, to put Miami up 31-27. Ole Miss had a chance to win the game with a last second Hail Mary attempt, but ultimately came up short.
Miami has been on an incredible playoff run. They went to College Station and beat Texas A&M in the first round of the playoffs, 10-7, in a defensive showcase. The Next week, the Canes went and stunned the world by defeating the reigning National Champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Miami’s defense was too much for the Buckeye offense to handle, resulting in the Buckeye’s quarterback, Julian Sayin, being sacked five times, and intercepted twice.
This year, the Hurricanes’ team is led by quarterback Carson Beck. Beck is a sixth-year senior, after he spent the past five years at Georgia where he won two national championships while serving as the backup.
This year, Miami has dealt with adversity from losing to Louisville, and SMU. Carson Beck threw a combined two touchdowns and six interceptions in both games. Since then, Miami has been outstanding. Miami just barely snuck into the playoffs, getting in over teams like Notre Dame and BYU. Some fans believe Miami did not deserve a spot in the playoffs, but Miami has shown the world why they deserve the spot.
Miami is headed home to play in the National Championship at Hard Rock Stadium on January 19th. Miami has a chance to bring home their first National Championship since 2001. Time will tell if they will continue their historic playoff run.
