Just last year, the Pacers were playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder for the championship. And now they are the worst team in the Eastern Conference. What happened? What changed?
Well, the biggest thing that changed is the team’s personnel itself. It first started in the championship game when Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles. This would not only doom their chances at winning the championship game, but also doom this season. Haliburton has been ruled out for this season and he was also recently diagnosed with shingles.
Not only did the Pacers lose their main star to injuries, but they also lost five other players, four of which are starters. And Myles Turner left for the Milwaukee Bucks. So literally the team currently is not the same team as the championship Pacers as 4 out of the 5 players that started in that game are injured, and the 5th is no longer a Pacer.
But there is hope for the future. They do still have 4 out of the 5 players from the championship worthy Pacers on the team and they have a new center Ivica Zubac who is a well respected and proven center and defensive player. They just have to pray that they’ll actually be healthy enough to play the game.
